Radical Fieldz: Invitation to Experience 'Hyper Nature' - A Personal Journey with Tas Wansbrough

Hello friends,

I'm thrilled to invite you to join me on a unique journey of art and nature at the Glenlyon Market Shire Hall for my first session in what is the inaugural Radical Fieldz. Curated by Ryan F Kennedy, Radical Fieldz will be slowly introduced into the community through participatory art experiences and artist-facilitated information sessions. I am thrilled to be the next in line to spend the day at the community hall discussing my art practice with the community.

For this art project, my artistic exploration extends beyond traditional forms, encapsulating the profound connection between humanity and nature through meticulously hand-whittled sticks.

These sticks, chosen for their intimate link to human-nature interaction, symbolize spontaneity and creativity. In nature, they act as conduits for engagement, play, and expression—a testament to the innate connection we share with our environment.

My art draws inspiration from the natural propensity of children to engage with sticks, using them for imaginative play, building shelters, and creative endeavors. Altered by human touch yet derived from nature, these sticks embody a harmonious blend of human interaction and the untouched essence of the natural world.

Through deliberate arrangements, I invite you to immerse yourselves in an experience that merges mindfulness and reconnection. Engage with these stick formations, and together, let's initiate a tactile dialogue—a relationship where movement, participation, and contemplation converge.

This Saturday, December 16th, from 9 am to 1 pm, at the Glenlyon Community Hall, I'll be presenting my artistic intentions and offering you a sneak peek into the upcoming 'Hyper Nature' project. Join me in exploring how these hand-whittled sticks become conduits for fostering mindfulness, reconnection, and a deeper understanding of our intrinsic relationship with the natural world.

As part of the Radical Fieldz festival, my use of hand-whittled sticks becomes a participatory experience—an invitation for you to engage in a tactile dialogue with nature. Become an active participant, transcending the traditional boundaries between artist and audience.

Of course, there is more, from 12pm -3pm at the Glenlyon Community Dam Radical Fieldz will be hosting a Community Sound Composition. Everyone is invited with all musical abilities welcome. Please BYO musical instruments.

I warmly invite you to be part of this immersive experience at Radical Fieldz—an opportunity to engage, reconnect, and contemplate our bond with nature through visionary art.

Looking forward to meeting you this Saturday at the Glenlyon Community Hall.

Warm regards,

Tas Wansbrough
