Tas Wansbrough is a sculptor living and working on Wudawurrung Land in Victoria. Her practice centres on the human body- it`s strength, its vulnerability, and the personal and social stories it holds. Through hand-carved sculptures made from stone and timber, Tas explores themes of chronic illness, pain and resilience, drawing from her own lived experience. Her work invites audiences to reflect on how we adapt, endure, and heal.
Tas holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Federation University and has been recognised with several major awards, including the Arts Campus Overseas Travel Award, the Sir Albert Coates- James Prior Award for Visual Arts, H.D.T Williamson Scholarship, and the NAVA Ignition Prize for Professional Practice.
Her art practice is grounded in a belief that making and experiencing art can foster understanding, emotional connection, and collective strength. Tas aims to create opportunities to experience empathy through sculpture that is deeply personal, tactile and powerful.
